Taytulla birth control pills have two main active ingredients: Norethindrone acetate 1 mg (progesterone) and Ethinyl Estradiol 20 mcg (estrogen).
The risk of side effects while taking Taytulla is low. Some women experience mild symptoms like spotting between periods, headaches, nausea, breast tenderness, or changes in sex drive. These side effects tend to improve or go away within a few weeks to months.
Serious Taytulla side effects are rare but possible. For example, blood clots may develop which can block the flow of blood in certain parts of the body, such as the legs, chest, and head. Smoking increases the risk of blood clots, so you should never smoke if taking Taytulla or any other oral contraceptive.

Taytulla is an oral combination birth control pill that can prevent pregnancy. It contains hormones that stop an ovary from releasing an egg (ovulation). Taytulla also changes the mucus of the cervix and the inner lining of the uterus so that it’s difficult for sperm to get into the uterus and for an egg to attach to the uterus
In addition to preventing pregnancy, Taytulla can also be used to treat moderate acne in females over the age of 15 who have already started their period.

Some women notice temporary mild weight gain when using Taytulla, especially in the beginning. This is generally due to fluid retention rather than true fat gain. Additionally, some women experience changes in their appetite while taking Taytulla birth control, which might also affect their weight.
Prescription, over-the-counter, or recreational drugs may interact with Taytulla, including drugs used to treat HIV, cancer, seizures, and hepatitis C. Even some herbal supplements and vitamins could interact with Taytulla and make it less effective.

Birth control pills are 91 to 99% effective at preventing pregnancy—provided that they are taken correctly! You shouldn’t use birth control pills if you don’t think you’d be able to consistently take your pill every day at the same time. Dr. Sophia Yen also recommends using a back-up birth control method during the first week of taking Taytulla.

In extremely rare cases, serious allergic reactions may occur. Call 911 immediately if you experience swelling of the lips, tongue, or mouth or if you have trouble breathing while taking Taytulla.
