Periods get lighter. If you are usually a 7 day person, it goes down to like 5 days. If you use 5 pads/tampons a day, it goes down to 3.

You can use it to make #PeriodsOptional. Just skip the last week of pills and go straight into the next pack. See our CEO/Founder’s talk here.

How to use Estarylla

Estarylla is super easy to use. Simply take one pill every day, at the same time each day. Many women find that taking Estarylla before bedtime or just after their evening meal helps reduce nausea and other side effects. After taking 21 days of white active pills, you’ll switch to seven peach-colored ones. These are inactive pills with no hormones that are there to get you in the habit of taking your pill every day. The use of Estarylla is the same if you are using the medication either to prevent pregnancy, treat acne, reduce PCOS symptoms, or periods cramps.

Estarylla Dosage

Estarylla uses a blend of two hormones, Norgestimate 0.25mg (progesterone) and Ethinyl Estradiol 0.035mg (estrogen).

Estarylla Side Effects

The risks are very low, but some women have experienced unwanted side effects when taking Estarylla. Minor ones include breast tenderness, headaches, nausea, swollen feet or ankles, and slightly elevated blood pressure or blood sugar levels. Positive side effects are also a possibility, too — reduced acne, fewer mood swings, and other perks are fairly common.

The chances of serious side effects are extremely unlikely, but some cases have been documented. Symptoms include heart disease, blood clotting, shortness of breath, migraines, vision problems, slurred speech, confusion, and fainting. Those who wear contacts or are nearsighted may notice vision problems as well.

These may sound scary, but remember — they’re very rare.

Estarylla Warnings

Estarylla may increase your risk for blood clots, stroke, pulmonary embolism, deep venous thrombosis, and heart attacks.

Do NOT take this medication if:

  • You currently have or have had any of these health problems: blood clots, blood clotting problem, breast cancer, uterine cancer, heart attack, stroke, heart disease, chest pain, high blood pressure, liver disease, liver tumor, migraine with aura, or diabetes with neuropathy or any diabetic complications

What Is Estarylla?

Estarylla is a combination oral contraceptive pill (cOCP, birth control medication, birth control pills). It prevents pregnancy by preventing the release of an egg (ovulation), and thickening the cervical mucus, blocking sperm from getting into the uterus and getting to the egg. Estarylla is also prescribed to: treat acne, reduce the risk of ovarian cysts (as in polycystic ovarian syndrome [PCOS]), treat painful or heavy periods, and more.

If you have high blood pressure or take blood pressure medications, this medication is NOT for you. Instead, Pandia Health Medical group’s doctors recommend progestin-only pill (POPs)IUD with hormone (Mirena, Liletta, Kyleena, Skyla), implant (nexplanon), the birth control shot (depo-provera), or condoms and spermicide.

Frequently Asked Questions

Estarylla is as effective as any other birth control pill. Birth control pills are 99.7% effective if PERFECTLY used (in a research study) and 93% effective in “regular use” (when real people use it and mess up every now and then).

Yes, both medications have the same active ingredients (Norgestimate 0.25mg and Ethinyl Estradiol 0.035mg).

As with any new prescription, you should go over anything you’re already taking with your Doctor before starting on Estarylla. This includes recreational drugs, over-the-counter meds, and even herbal supplements. Even something as relatively harmless as St. John’s wort can cause Estarylla to be less effective at preventing pregnancy. There are certain meds you should absolutely bring up. These are aromatase inhibitors, cancer medications, HIV drugs, seizure medicines, and those used for chronic hepatitis C.

Esterylla is a good birth control pill. The progestin in it is one of the good ones in that, it has low androgenicity (meaning fewer male hormone side effects such as acne, and munchies).

If you choose to pay out-of-pocket, Estarylla is quite affordable since it’s a generic brand, as low as $16 per pack when ordering 3 packs or more. You can also save by choosing one of several other Estarylla generics, such as Mono-Linyah, Previfem, Norgestimate Ethinyl Estradiol, Femynor, Mononessa, Sprintec, Mili.
