What is Ortho-Micronor Birth Control Pills?

How to Use Ortho-Micronor

Ortho-Micronor birth control it’s super easy to use.

Simply take one pill every day, at the same time each day. You take a pill every day. It is important to know that this medication requires that you take them at the SAME TIME every day.

If you are late by 3 hours, you will need Emergency Contraception (if you had heterosexual intercourse[sex] in the past 5 days) and to abstain from sex for the next 48 hrs.

Ortho-Micronor Dosage

Ortho-Micronor birth control pills have only one main active ingredient, Norethindrone [0.35mg].

Benefits of Ortho-Micronor

  • Is the safest birth control pill for those women who: are breastfeeding, have high blood pressure, have migraines, or have hypertension.
  • Periods get lighter. If you are usually a 7-day person, it goes down to like 5 days. If you use 5 pads/tampons a day, it goes down to 3.

Ortho-Micronor Side Effects

The risks of side effects are very low, but some women have experienced side effects when taking Ortho-Micronor.

Minor ones include irregular periods, acne, breast tenderness, headaches, nausea, cysts on your ovaries, and changes in sex drive (up or down).

These side effects are most likely during the 1st few months and generally improve over time and should stop within a few months.

WILL ORTHO-MICRONOR CAUSE WEIGHT GAIN?

Some women may experience weight gain when taking Ortho-Micronor, and other birth control pills. While there’s a chance that the hormones can give you the munchies, it’s mostly water retention (and not actual fat).

WHAT PRECAUTIONS SHOULD I BE AWARE OF WITH ORTHO-MICRONOR ?

Every prescription comes with a tiny risk of allergies, including with Ortho-Micronor. The symptoms are usually mild and include: rashes, itching, dizziness. A severe allergic reaction would be: trouble breathing, and swollen lips, throat, or tongue. If this happens, call 911! Depending on your medical history, hormone-based birth control may not be for you. It’s important to discuss your medical history with your physician or one of our helpful Pandia Health Patient Care Advisors before you get started on Ortho-Micronor, especially if you’ve health problems such as cancer, heart disease, blood clots, uncontrolled diabetes, or high blood pressure.

WHAT SHOULD I AVOID WHILE TAKING ORTHO-MICRONOR PILL?

As with any new prescription, you should go over anything you’re already taking with your doctor or Pandia Health Care Advisor before starting on Ortho-Micronor. This includes recreational drugs, over-the-counter meds, and even herbal supplements. Even something that seems relatively harmless such as St. John’s wort can cause Ortho-Micronor to be less effective at preventing pregnancy. There are certain meds you should absolutely bring up. These are aromatase inhibitors, cancer, HIV, seizure, and chronic hepatitis C medications.

HOW MUCH IS ORTHO-MICRONOR WITHOUT INSURANCE?

If you choose to pay out-of-pocket, Ortho-Micronor is a brand name so it’s quite pricey, being $105/pack. You can also save money by choosing one of several other Ortho-Micronor generics such as Norethindrone or Errin for $20/pack. Generics have the SAME active ingredients and dosage as the name brand. DOES ORTHO-MICRONOR STOP YOUR PERIOD?

No, on Ortho-Micronor or Progesterone Only Pills some women have lighter periods, others stop bleeding completely, and others have no changes in their period flow. The medication has 28 tablets.
