We have gotten some questions about a recall for birth control – we’re here to clear things up!
Apotex Corp. is recalling birth control pills because of a possible packaging error that could result in an unintended pregnancy.
Great news – for Pandia Health customers you do not need to worry. We do not carry medications from Apotex.
Dr. Sophia Yen believes it’s mainly East Coast companies that partner up with Apotex.
If you’re a Pandia Health customer, not a concern, we don’t use Apotex. I think it’s mainly East Coast companies that do that.

However, for those who are not with Pandia Health and are on the birth control pill, you should check with your doctor or pharmacist.
A recall notice on the FDA’s website says there are four recalled lots of Drospirenone and Ethinyl Estradiol tablets. The defective packaging may lead to someone to miss a pill or take a placebo instead of the active tablet, raising the possibility for a “loss of efficacy.”
The recall affects lot numbers 7DY008A, 7DY009A, 7DY010A and 7DY011A, all with an expiration date of 8/20.
More information can be found on the FDA’s website, or call 800-706-5575 or visit Apotex.com.
